We adopted a son!...Kind of. Tommie and I have joined with Compassion International to begin supporting Mujonny. I would be hard pressed to find a better international aid program like this out there. So shout out for Compassion!
Our small bit a month gives him a chance to go to a Christ-centered school at Kisima Church Child Development Center. It also helps him family pay for his food and learning. We're so excited to have this opportunity. We also get to write him letters and send pictures and he'll write us back! We can't wait to send off our first letter here in the next week or so. We're looking forward to really getting to know him...as much as you can get to know an eight year old.
That being said, let me introduce you to our little guy!
Full Name: Antony Muriuki Mujonny (in Kenya you are called by your last name)
Birthday: Oct. 16, 1999
Mujonny helps lives with his mother and four brothers and sisters in the hills of Kisima, a city of nearly 25,000 people. He helps his mother by gathering firewood while she sometimes works as a 'laborer.'
For fun Mujonny likes playing ball games. He attends church activities regularly and is in primary school where his performance is below average. We especially want to encourage him to use his mind to propel him to where he wants to be in accordance with God's plan for his life...
So, by sponsoring him, Mujonny will get Bible teaching, medical exams, hygiene education, recreational activities, story telling, drawing and painting opportunities. What an incredible opportunity. We are so blessed and we look forward to offering some of what we have to Mujonny.
If you're interested in sponsoring a child, you can sign up or get more information online here: Compassion International.

horray! maybe one day Mujonny can meet Jyothi (my Compassion daughter) and they can be like cousins. and we would be aunts. haha.
I had high expectations of letter writing at first. Then I realized that she was only 4 when I adopted her. So I have great conversations with her teacher. I can't wait until she gets old enough to write me a letter one day. But I have received cute crayon drawings. Those are always a special treat!
It should be really exciting for you to help encourage him to attend the center more regularly. I'll definitely be praying for that. Love, Kal
